The Japanese school of Tilburg Since 1990 Tilburg hosts a Japanese School for Japanese children in the province of Brabant. Each Saturday Japanese children between 4 and 16 years of age are educated in their own language at the school campus of 2College Jozef Oude Dijk 9. Because many Japanese citizens are temporary expats in the Netherlands, it is important to have this Japanese school. Their childen will have to be able to function in school in Japan once they return to Japan. During the week these children visit regular Dutch schools or one of the international schools in Eindhoven or Rotterdam. In Japn the school year runs from April to April. This also goes for the Japanese School of Tilburg. Each year in April there is an opening ceremony. At this ceremony many guest are present: representatives of the Japanese Embassy, of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Board members of Japanese companies, the alderman eor Economic Affairs of the City of Tilburg, members of City council, and representatives of the host school 2College Jozef.
The
Japanese School is regularly involved in activities of our
association VTM. During our Matsuri in April 2006, for example,
pupils and teachers of the Japanese School organized workshops and
presentations. The Japanese School has its own website: www.js-tilburg.org |
